In a statement issued today, the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine welcomed the successive international recognitions of an independent and fully sovereign Palestinian state, with its capital in Jerusalem, based on the 4 June 1967 borders. The statement said that these recognitions would strengthen the will and resolve of our people to continue their struggle and resistance in all its forms, until they achieve freedom and self-determination, establish their independent state, and realize it as a viable political entity, free from all forms of occupation, settlement, and any kind of tutelage, whether security-related, political, economic, or otherwise.
The Democratic Front called on the international community to complete its important step of recognizing the Palestinian state by working to remove the American obstacles that prevent Palestine from obtaining full membership in the United Nations, alongside other countries. This should happen now that Palestine, through its mass movement, the struggle of its people, and its political parties and factions, has demonstrated that it is a political force that upholds international law, the UN Charter, and international resolutions
