Ladies and gentlemen, leaders of political parties and parliamentary institutions in the West,
Ladies and gentlemen, leaders and members of unions and public opinion shapers in Western countries,
Greetings to you from wounded Palestine, from the Gaza Strip which has been subjected to a genocidal war for more than 600 days at the hands of Israeli fascism and with direct support from several Western countries. In contrast, the voices of the world›s freedom-loving defenders of justice, law, and human rights are growing louder in support of Palestinian rights, opposing those who would turn the law of the jungle into a legitimate excuse for killing, displacement, destruction, and ethnic cleansing without accountability.
Ladies and gentlemen,
It is not an exaggeration to describe the major transformations occurring in public opinion in many Western countries as a «flood of the free,» which has started to influence, albeit relatively, the positions of some Western states, especially those known for their historic support of Israel. It has become evident that there is a tangible shift in attitudes toward the daily crimes being committed in the Gaza Strip. This has begun to stir global conscience and awaken Western public opinion—both official and popular—to the truth, acknowledging the reality and witnessing its horrors. These shifts are being expressed, with variations between countries, through demonstrations in the capitals and major cities of Western states, where clear and direct slogans are raised that refute Israeli lies and allegations, condemn massacres, and protest starvation, thirst, and denial of medicine against the Palestinian people.
The punitive legal and security measures adopted by the United States and some other Western countries to pursue critics of Israel confirm that democracy, human rights, and similar slogans are discarded when it comes to Israel and its interests. This also affirms the collapse of the historical narrative that Zionism promoted to Western peoples to justify the establishment of a «Jewish state.» This makes President Abraham Lincoln’s quote ring especially true: «You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.»
By «the Israeli narrative,» we are not only referring to the falsehoods surrounding the events of October 7—such as fabricated stories of infants killed, civilians burned alive, or women raped, nor the lies about UNRWA—but the deeper Talmudic Zionist narrative about land, history, people, and identity. Especially now, as a fascist trend within Israel calls openly for resolving the issue of the «Jewishness of the land» as a prerequisite to completing the «Jewishness of the state,» all while committing murder, displacement, and ethnic cleansing, and seeking to erase Palestinian national identity.
Israel today, as a racist entity based on killing, displacement, and destruction, finds itself in unprecedented isolation due to the growing awareness among large segments of Western and American societies about Israel’s true nature and role in the region. This is reflected in the expanding popular movements in countries that have never witnessed anti-Israel protests before, and in universities once considered strongholds of Israeli support. All of this comes in the context of the horrific crimes being committed in Gaza, which the international community remains unable to stop, despite its daily condemnation.
Regardless of how seriously we take the comments of the French President at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore at the end of May—when he said, «The West risks losing all its credibility before the world if it abandons Gaza and allows Israel to do as it pleases»—popular movements have managed to force some pro-Israel governments to take unprecedented decisions. These decisions reflect not just support for the Palestinian cause, but a partial alignment with values these countries claim to uphold. There is a noticeable and growing gap between official Western positions and public opinion, as seen in mass protests that reflect a popular mood recognizing that Israel is hostile not only to Palestinians but to the values the West professes to defend.
This contradiction is evident in the following issues:
1) Israel›s ongoing genocidal war for more than 600 days, with Western countries—individually or collectively—unable to use their influence to stop the war on Gaza.
2) International institutions acknowledge that Gaza has entered a phase of catastrophic famine, with some areas already experiencing starvation. This has two dimensions: one moral, affecting public opinion pressing their governments to halt cooperation with Israel; the other legal, concerning the use of starvation as a weapon, prohibited under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.
3) Israel›s disregard for international calls to halt its violations in the West Bank, continuing settlement activity, incitement by officials and settler organizations to kill and displace Palestinians, and practicing ethnic cleansing—especially in Jenin, Tulkarm, Nablus, and other areas—while refusing to enter any balanced political process to restore Palestinian rights.
4) Israel’s imposition of its annexation agenda in all forms: approving new settlements, arresting even minors and the elderly, demolishing homes and displacing residents for expansion plans, continuous raids on Palestinian cities and camps in the West Bank, provocative actions in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque—all of which justify international intervention to hold Israel accountable.
Thus, placing Israel under legal scrutiny before international courts—including the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice—as well as national courts in several Western countries, is the minimum that can be done legally and judicially, even though these institutions are not immune to political pressure.
Amid the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in Gaza and the heroism of the resistance inflicting heavy losses on Israeli occupation forces, European and Western public opinion has seen important shifts. Official positions have partially moved from hostility to calls for a ceasefire, an end to civilian targeting, breaking the siege, and opening crossings to Gaza. However, this change has not fully translated into strategic political shifts—Germany, for example, continues to provide weapons and military support to Israel.
We extend our deep appreciation to political, legal, institutional, academic, and media entities for their support in exposing Israel›s narrative. We value the vital role played by Arab, Islamic, and Palestinian communities in uncovering the truth about Israeli crimes, mobilizing local support, and translating it into political pressure on their governments and parliaments. We stress the importance of continuing this effort—including the expansion and deep involvement in the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement—until it reaches every Western and Arab capital and city.
Israel now stands exposed before international public opinion: exposed in international courts, thanks in part to South Africa›s case which helped form a global official front against Israeli racism and ethnic cleansing; and exposed in the court of global public opinion, in the thousands of squares and streets across the Western world where people have risen to oppose Israeli fascism.
On behalf of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, we salute the millions rising in protest in Western streets and squares. We highly value the efforts of parliaments, unions, grassroots, cultural, economic, media, and artistic institutions for their initiatives uncovering the truth of Israeli crimes against Palestinian women and children in the West Bank and Gaza. These people know they are not alone in the face of Israeli fascism and Western colonialism. The free peoples of the world stand with their resilience and resistance, firmly believing that victory belongs to the Palestinian people in their struggle for a free, sovereign, and independent political and economic future—far from occupation, colonialism, dependency, and foreign tutelage
