The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine strongly condemns the bloody massacres committed by Israeli occupation forces against health institutions in the southern Gaza Strip. The most recent of these was the targeting of the European Gaza Hospital and its surroundings in Khan Yunis Governorate, which came just hours after the bombing of a ward in Nasser Hospital in the same city and the martyrdom of journalist Hassan Aslih. These crimes resulted in the deaths and injuries of patients and civilians, in addition to widespread destruction of buildings, hospital grounds, and vital healthcare infrastructure, in a blatant and deliberate violation of all international norms and conventions.
These successive crimes against health facilities and medical teams clearly expose the occupation’s intent to implement a policy of genocide and ethnic cleansing against our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip through the systematic targeting of the healthcare sector and the means of survival. This constitutes a full-fledged war crime under international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions.
The Front affirms that the international silence, along with the open political and military support provided by the United States and some Western countries to the occupation, has created a shield of impunity and allowed the occupation to continue committing massacres and violations without deterrence.
Accordingly, the Democratic Front calls for urgent and effective international action that goes beyond verbal condemnation and leads to holding the leaders of the occupation accountable as war criminals before the International Criminal Court, imposing deterrent sanctions on the occupying state, and halting its ongoing aggression against our people in the Gaza Strip.
The Front also calls for the urgent provision of medical and humanitarian support to the exhausted healthcare sector in Gaza, reinforcing its resilience in the face of the systematic Israeli targeting, and ensuring full protection for medical teams and health facilities, which have become a direct target of aggression.
