The World›s Silence and Inability to Stop the Genocidal War in Gaza: A Disgrace on Humanity

Since the early weeks of the aggression on the Gaza Strip, it became evident that the true objectives of the Zionist fascist regime in Israel were to prolong the war for as many years as possible. Netanyahu seeks to safeguard his political future and evade judicial accountability over charges of corruption, bribery, and negligence related to the events of October 7. These objectives align with the ideological goals of religious Zionism and the extreme right in Israel, exploiting international support formed after the war to pursue hidden agendas beyond their declared aims.
It is no secret that all mediators› efforts and proposals to end the war have collided with persistent Israeli refusal, driven by ongoing internal blackmail among the Israeli government›s factions. Continuation of the war has become a cornerstone of their coalition government, a fact openly discussed by Israeli officials who regularly threaten withdrawal should the war end. A prominent government member previously resigned upon reaching a deal on January 17, only returning when hostilities resumed after Netanyahu refused to transition to the second phase, as stipulated in the agreement.
Today, all countries worldwide, including Israel›s allies, alongside the United Nations and numerous international organizations, are calling for an immediate end to the genocidal war against the Palestinian people in Gaza. Despite the massive humanitarian tragedies caused (over 200,000 casualties, mostly women and children, widespread destruction in Gaza, and an overt policy of starvation and dehydration), Netanyahu and his fascist government, with explicit support from the U.S. administration, remain determined to continue their aggression. This determination persists despite widespread rebellion within several Israeli military and security units refusing to continue what they see as Netanyahu›s personal war, as reported by Israeli media.
Military experts unanimously agree that the war in Gaza has lost any strategic or military purpose other than continuing the killing and increasing the human toll on the Palestinian people. On the eve of the war›s first anniversary, the occupation army repeatedly declared its operations in Gaza concluded, admitting that it had nothing left to achieve. Netanyahu’s promises to destroy the resistance and secure the release of Israeli prisoners through military means have failed. Moreover, genocidal operations aiming to force the population out of Gaza have also failed, thwarting Israel›s plan to depopulate the region and convert it into a security belt for the occupation state.
Statements by Israeli military and political officials acknowledging that resistance is an idea and a social structure that cannot be defeated militarily explicitly recognize the occupation army›s failure. They clearly indicate the impossibility of defeating the resistance and affirm that the longer the war persists, the more the Israeli side›s failure becomes evident. Each Israeli failure constitutes a victory for the resistance. Consequently, the occupation has reshaped its narrative, claiming success only in diminishing the resistance›s capacity to replicate an attack like that of October 7, 2023.
Within this context, major Israeli operations have shifted towards targeting civilians in brutal and severe attacks, beginning with shelters for displaced people, extending to comprehensive destruction in northern Gaza through a scorched-earth strategy. This aims to undermine the resilience of the residents and forcibly displace them southward, paving the way for implementing initial steps for the so-called «day after» scenario in Gaza, turning northern areas into uninhabitable, besieged zones with destroyed critical infrastructure.
The international community›s inability to intervene has allowed Israel to persist in the war, successfully supported by the U.S. administration, in obstructing the UN Security Council›s resolution 2735 calling for an end to hostilities, the withdrawal of occupation forces, prisoner exchanges, lifting the blockade, and initiating multifaceted rescue efforts. Israel’s intransigence has led to the resolution›s failure, prolonging the war to achieve Netanyahu’s stated objectives: eradicating resistance, retrieving prisoners, and displacing the population.
The resumption of aggression last March was predictable, given Netanyahu›s well-known intent to deflect internal problems by inciting conflicts. Although resuming aggression was partly a negotiation tactic to pressure resistance factions into lowering their demands, it also relates directly to internal issues within the Israeli entity, particularly after dismissing the Shin Bet chief, reinstating Ben Gvir in government, and firing the legal adviser. Netanyahu’s goal through his crimes and massacres in Gaza is to ensure government stability and avoid surprises that could threaten its fall, even at the cost of thousands of Palestinian civilian lives, notably women and children.
The United States clearly demonstrates a lack of seriousness in translating its declared positions to end the war, fully adopting the Zionist narrative. This was evidenced by resistance factions› positive engagement with the initial U.S. proposal by Adam Boulner, which placed Americans in an awkward position, prompting a revised proposal from U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff. It became evident that both Israel and the United States seek only the release of Israeli prisoners without offering anything in return, an unacceptable stance for any Palestinian.
Israel aims to achieve three simultaneous goals:
Militarily pressure Palestinian resistance to meet the now-aligned Israeli-American demands, exploiting the tragic reality of Gaza›s residents to achieve politically what could not be achieved through force.
Retaliate against the residents of Gaza who have stood their ground and rejected forced displacement, using lethal force, destruction, starvation, and dehydration.
Remove the prisoner issue from resistance control by deliberately killing all Israeli captives, believing it would strip resistance factions of their bargaining leverage. This explains Hamas’s announcement of losing contact with the group holding one Israeli captive, Idan Alexander, following Israeli bombardment.
Despite Netanyahu›s tactics, resistance factions remain open to mediators› solutions to end aggression. If the U.S. sincerely seeks an agreement, Netanyahu remains the main obstacle. Resistance flexibility does not equate to abandoning core demands unanimously supported by Palestinians: ending the war, withdrawal, humanitarian protocols, reconstruction, releasing Palestinian prisoners, and unequivocally rejecting disarmament of the resistance. Any deviation will leave the resistance with no choice but steadfast defense.
Resistance demonstrated flexibility and earnestness in reaching an agreement by accepting the latest mediator proposal in April, rejected by Netanyahu due to his new demand of resistance disarmament before ceasing hostilities. This rejection further reveals Netanyahu›s intent to extend the war until the 2026 Israeli elections, maintaining Gaza›s blockade and trapping a silent or complicit international community in genocide.
We, in the Department of Foreign affairs of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, while appreciating and thanking every effort undertaken by the countries of the world and their political, party, judicial, parliamentary, media, and labor union bodies, call upon the parties of the world and all global popular movements to continue their mobilization in rejection of the ongoing war. We urge them to pressure, particularly Western governments, to exert influence on the Israeli occupation to stop its war and heed the voice of the global consensus calling for a complete ceasefire, the withdrawal of occupying forces from all areas of the [Gaza] Strip, the entry of humanitarian aid, and other demands that have become a matter of international consensus.
