The Legal Department of the Democratic Front: Comments on the Law Executing Palestinian Prisoners:Legalizing Genocide Against the Palestinian People and Entrenching an Apartheid System

Mar 26, 2026

The Legal Department of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine affirmed that the Israeli Knesset’s approval of the draft law allowing the execution of Palestinian prisoners represents an extremely dangerous development that goes beyond the limits of conventional legislation. It constitutes an official legal codification of policies of genocide and provides legal cover for daily assassinations and physical liquidations against Palestinians, in light of the bias and fascistic orientation of the Israeli judicial system against anything Palestinian.
The Legal Department stated that the selective nature of the law, which will be applied to Palestinians but not to Israelis, reinforces the racist nature of Israel and entrenches the system of apartheid it practices. This legislation comes within a broader framework of exclusionary laws adopted by Israel in recent years, most notably: the Nation-State Law, the law banning UNRWA, the Citizenship Law, the Absentees’ Property Law, and the Law of Return, in addition to building and planning laws and other legislation that discriminates between Jews and non-Jews, particularly Palestinians inside Israel and in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.
The Department emphasized that although the draft law represents a form of racial discrimination and recalls some of the worst laws known in history, it also reflects a political, legal, and moral bankruptcy that undermines human values. It represents another step in the escalating path of Israeli fascism and its thirst for Palestinian blood, and exposes the reality of the Zionist ideology based on hostility toward peoples and racial discrimination, in addition to constituting a clear violation of international conventions.
The Legal Department added that previous assassination policies have proven unsuccessful in breaking the will of the Palestinian people, and that this law will not succeed in deterring the Palestinian people or their resistance from continuing their legitimate struggle for their national rights. This is especially evident in light of cases of “actual executions” inside and outside prisons, particularly after October 7, when hundreds of Palestinians died as a result of systematic torture and deliberate medical neglect, in what it described as an unprecedented deterioration in the human rights system and the treatment of prisoners, according to reports issued by Palestinian and Israeli human rights organizations.
In conclusion, the Legal Department of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine called on countries around the world, as well as political forces and legal and human rights institutions, to condemn the escalating moral and legal deviation of the occupying state represented by the draft law on executing Palestinian prisoners and other racist and fascist laws. It stressed the need to confront such legislation as a threat to the values of human civilization based on freedom, democracy, and the right of peoples to self-determination and to build their future through their own national will.
