The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine expressed relative satisfaction with the achievements of the first phase of the Gaza Strip plan, including the ceasefire, the return of displaced persons to their homes, the opening of crossings for the flow of aid, and the exchange of living prisoners and some dead prisoners.
The Democratic Front said: The first phase of the plan could have achieved better results, were it not for the gaps created by the occupation by violating the ceasefire, which resulted in new martyrs among our people, obstructing movement at the Rafah and Abu Salem crossings, and the blatant interference in determining the quantities and types of goods allowed to enter, including limiting fuel and cooking gas, in a blatant game to provoke the Palestinian delegation, and in a bet on disrupting implementation to satisfy fascist tendencies that control Israeli decision-making, especially since the true face of the Zionist project has been exposed to the world.
The Democratic Front said: «As we prepare to enter the second phase of the Gaza Strip plan, it has become increasingly urgent to call for a comprehensive national dialogue in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, to agree on a plan for the next phase and the mechanisms and means for monitoring it.»
The Democratic Front stressed the importance of forming a unified Palestinian delegation, similar to the one in 2014, to represent Palestine in the second phase of negotiations. This delegation is important because it encompasses significant demands that affect not only the Gaza Strip but also the entire national cause. The fate of the Gaza Strip is inseparable from the fate of the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, and from the fate of our people›s legitimate national rights.
The Democratic Front affirmed its conviction that the Beijing formula for forming a national unity government, concerned with managing the affairs of the Gaza Strip, alongside the affairs of the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, is the best formula for unifying the Palestinian national position and the best way to block any alternative solutions, the results of which could lead to the separation of the Gaza Strip from the West Bank, the undermining of the territorial integrity of the Palestinian state, the destruction of the national project, and the disruption of its historical path.
The Democratic Front concluded by stressing that the national issue is entering a new phase, different from previous phases, carrying within it major and fateful national entitlements, which requires all Palestinians to rise to the level of the conditions they are experiencing, and to exert the necessary effort to remove the obstacles to restoring unity of position and political vision in facing the entitlements of the phase of what was called “the day after” the Gaza Strip. Facts have proven that it is in fact “the day after” for the national issue as a whole.
